Osram has recently launched a direct LED retrofit, an easy to use LED tube that replaces the 36 watt T8 fluorescent tube.
While most T8 LED retrofit options do not have a shock protection system in compliance with IEC safety regulations, OSRAM’s SubstiTUBE has an in line fuse called the ‘SubstiTUBE Start’ which is in the shape of a starter. The ‘SubstiTUBE Starter’ replaces the existing starter which ensures that there is no risk of the ends of the tube becoming live leading to electric shock when installing the LED tube.
The SubstiTUBE offers energy savings up to 50% and can be generally used for lighting applications where little or no maintenance is required. For example, warehouses, supply rooms, corridors, stairways, car parks and walk ways.
These tubes have a long average life of 50,000 hours and are ideal for applications where maintenance costs are exorbitant. The combination of low maintenance costs and the energy saving potential means you will achieve a payback of less than two years in many applications.
